94 RX-7

Post by speedjunkie »

Hi all. I'm new to the Syvecs ECU and new to the forum (I guess that's obvious though lol). Chris Ludwig talked me into the S6 Plus and so far I love it. I bought the car in Sept 2004 and have been building it little by little pretty much since then. I just picked it up from Chris about 3 weeks ago and got it back out here to Colorado this week. I have some questions about the app for iPad (although I plan on using an Android device eventually), but I'll address that in the app section. Here are a couple pics with my buddy's Supra back home. I'm trying to talk him into getting a Syvecs also lol.

Chris was awesome at installing this and making the harness for it, and he's still super helpful even now. I'd also like to thank the guys at Syvecs for being so helpful to Chris while he was working on the car. They bent over backwards writing code and doing whatever it took to get my ECU to where we wanted it. As soon as I get the replacement one with dual knock and get my OMP back and install it, I'll be set lol.

Hi Eric,

i just got a S7+ from Chris and i also want to keep the OMP in my 93'. Can you share your Cal and IO Pin assignment?
I tried to come up with some sort of Functionality that is already in the ECM to cope with OMP Control but i still struggle with the outputs.
The OMP Position is basically a Custom Sensor (OMP_Pstn_U02 in the Screenshot) and i added a CL PWM Table on top to Control the Bipolar Stepper within the OMP.
In the Pin Assignment though, i can only add one output as a H-Bridge to Control the OMP but i would need at least 2 to run it as a Bipolar Stepper and i think 4 if i want to run it as an unipolar stepper like the factory ECM does.

Also Question to the Syvecs Team: Is there any plan to implement this feature permanently? Chris told me that he used a custom firmware to get the desired functionality but i guess this would make any update to a newer firmware quite difficult because you would need to patch this in for every update.

Thanks in advance.
Best Regards
Felix

You are much better off throwing the OMP and all associated parts in the garbage where they belong, Eric found this out the hard way ;)
If you want it set up right, including knock control that actually works then get in touch.

Hi Peter,

thanks for the reply. Could you specify why Eric found out the hard way?
The FD i'm building is somewhere between weekend racecar and Street Legal (under german laws...). I premix but i just wanted to have the OMP as backup.
Chris Ludwig has the patched Software from Syvecs to run 2 H-Bridges to Control one feedback input from a Sensor so it shouldnt be a huge deal to get this feature permanently in all upcoming Softwares.

Hi Eric, replied some time ago but you seem to be even less active on this forum than me

Coming back to the OMP control, i'm premixing now but i still want to go back to OMP + Premixing for the simple reason that i need an Overrun fuel cut to stop the car from misfiring and / or spitting flames all the time but in this case there will be no lubrication at this point.

Can somebody from Syvecs maybe chime in with some ideas how to fix this?

Thanks
Felix
